FOR EVERY KID WHO NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY

We exist to eliminate preventable sudden cardiac death in the young through affordable heart screenings, AEDs and working with communities to honor every kid who never had the chance.

This is Our Story

Our friend, classmate, and teammate, Rafe Maccarone, is Who We Play For. On November 30, 2007, we were warming up for our high school soccer practice when Rafe suffered from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. The next day, he passed away and it changed everything for our community.

We later found out that Rafe had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Had he had an ECG prior to November 30, 2007, there is a 95% chance he would have been diagnosed and could still be with us today.

Who We Play For was born from our loss and what we learned following Rafe’s death. We never want another family, team, school, or community to experience what we did that day.

Rafe is Who We Play For.

Pre-Screening Information Video

The WWPF team is excited to be able to now share what to expect at a heart screening event through this informative video. The goal of the pre-screening information video is to allow our participants to go into their heart screening without any anxiety or hesitation knowing exactly what to expect each step of the way.

Check out what our team was able to put together and feel free to pass it along to spread the word about what to expect at a heart screening event.

NFL Smart Heart Sports Coalition + WWPF

The Smart Heart Sports Coalition is making its mark on Nevada, host of Super Bowl LVIII. Founding coalition member Damar Hamlin and his Chasing M’s Foundation is donating an AED to every Title I high school across the state, which will help protect young athletes for years. We look forward to working with the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association to advocate for AEDs and emergency action plans to be required at all athletic venues in Nevada - and we won’t stop until all 50 states have adopted policies to better protect young athletes from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
